Daniel Johnson graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2006. Since then, he has played in a number of Yorkshire-based bands and currently he is the lead saxophonist in Complete Madness, which regularly tours the UK. Throughout his career, he has appeared as a soloist, as well as being a lead chair in a number of UK Big Bands including Jambone which was formed choosing the most talented young musicians from the North Of England to create an elite Big Band. Daniel has performed in venues throughout the UK, including The Sage Gateshead, and Royal Albert Hall in a concert attended by the Royal family. Daniel has also been recognised for compositions, winning titles two years running. He represented Leeds College of Music In a competition run by Pizza Express as one of the 6 finalists picked from Universities and Colleges throughout the UK.
In 2010, he became the winner of Snake Davis Pure Solo competition, and performed with Snake in the famous Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho.
As a performer, Daniel is inspired by such artists as Joe Lovano, Ed Calle, Jerry Bergonzi, Charlie Parker, Michael Brecker, and Dexter Gordon, among others. As well as playing saxophone, Daniel is a composer who is inspired by all music but has a strong roots in Jazz. He is currently working on his first album, which he hopes to complete in 2014.
